Learning Objectives and Outcomes
Discuss the Hospice Medicare Benefit (HMB), admission criteria, and the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) Review Advance Directives, Ethics, and Patients' Rights Recognize communication skills, family dynamics, and cultural diversity Explore psychosocial and sensitive issues. Recall the history, philosophy, definitions of Hospice and Palliative Care. Practice infection control and safety. Interpret family dynamics, spiritual issues, and bereavement. Discuss hospice patient care, comfort measures, and the dying process. Apply appropriate confidentiality, QAPI, and HIPPA standards. Define the role of the Hospice Volunteer, specific policies and procedures and self-care.
