Opportunity Summary 

The student will be working mainly at the City of Modesto Compost facility. The main goal is for the student to understand the composting operations, learn about state regulations, such as SB 1383, and help the facility increase sales by conducting outreach to farmers and landscapers. The intern will also be involved in starting a community composting classes. They will work with the master gardeners or seek other partnerships with colleges or universities in the area.

Opportunity Training 

a. The student will receive training from the Manager and the supervisor on site. Admin staff will explain the compost sales process and will show the student how our inbound/outbound software works b. CalRecycle provides additional webinars and training on composting c. The student will learn about government process d. Also they will learn about community based social marketing techniques when conduction outreach to farmers and landscapers

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students will be working in an office setting with occasional field work conducting outreach and education
