Tutor MentorAt — Harvest Park Educational Center / HPEC
This is HPEC's seventeenth year of servicing students. Its purpose is to provide at-risk, disconnected, and poverty-stricken children and youth (TK-12th grade) with supplemental education in an environment in which students are encouraged to build on their basic skills.
Students will have learned how to connect with TK-12th grade students to provide educational aid that will have a lasting effect on the young students.
On their first day, the students will go through orientation and onboarding. Orientation and onboarding contains a presentation on HPEC's purpose and explains the curriculum we implement into the students' learning (PBLT). This curriculum was created by the managing director Gloria J. Morris. Once the presentation is finished the case notes are explained. The case note's purpose is to learn what areas of need the students have and their emotional state. Lastly, HPEC's daily schedule includes 15-minute snack time for students, homework, enrichment, 20 minutes of reading, and free time.
The site has a main entrance that can be used as an emergency exit. Additionally, there is a back door that is for emergencies only.
