Opportunity Summary 

The City of Modesto Solid Waste Division has opportunities available for students to gain firsthand work in environmental compliance, solid waste, recycling, and public education campaigns related to sustainability and public health.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

how to sort solid waste and how to engage and educate community members, how to conduct waste analysis inspections, how to conduct a public education campaign, field safety

Opportunity Training 

Students will join a team of interns that are already working on these tasks. A supervisor will guide training and support students on their professional development.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students are provided high visibility safety vests, gloves, glasses, sunscreen, and bottled water when working in the field. Students need to come to work prepared for field work each day, however some days may require being in the office only. Closed toed shoes are not provided but are required.
