Students will have the opportunity to gain practical experiences in an early childhood education. Students will observe classroom environments, child development, teacher-child interactions, family engagement and daily program operations. They will also have the opportunities to support developmentally appropriate classroom activities, prepare learning materials, research community resources for families and observe how early childhood professionals promote children's social-emotional, cognitive, language and physical development.
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how early childhood programs support children's development and families. Students will be able to identify developmentally appropriate practices, recognize children's developmental needs, observe effective teacher-child interactions and describe strategies used to support social-emotional development and positive behavior.
Student will receive an initial orientation to the child development program, including program expectations, classroom procedures, health and safety practices, professional conduct, confidentiality and appropriate interactions with children and families.
