Student Engagement & Community Impact FellowAt — MCS Community Education and Outreach
College Corps Fellows will partner with Modesto City Schools’ Community and Student Engagement & Outreach team to help students feel connected, heard, and empowered to shape their school communities. Fellows will work alongside the Director of Community Engagement & Outreach and Student Engagement Specialist to support districtwide initiatives including Be the Change, student Listening Circles, leadership and student voice activities, college and career exposure, and community engagement events. Fellows may facilitate small-group activities, gather and organize student feedback, help students turn ideas into action, support outreach and events, connect students with opportunities and resources, and assist with special projects designed to strengthen belonging and engagement. This is an ideal opportunity for students interested in education, youth development, communications, leadership, counseling, public service, or community engagement who want hands-on experience while making a meaningful difference for K–12 students.
Fellows will receive an initial orientation to the Community Engagement & Outreach department, and the district’s student engagement priorities and programs. Training will include expectations for working with K–12 students, professional communication, confidentiality and appropriate boundaries, school-site protocols, student safety, and district procedures. Fellows will also receive training and coaching related to student engagement, facilitating small-group discussions and Listening Circles, supporting Be the Change activities, gathering student voice and feedback, event support, community engagement, and connecting students to appropriate resources and opportunities. Additional project-specific training and coaching will be provided throughout the year as Fellows take on new responsibilities.
