Opportunity Summary 

The Oakdale Ranch internship program is a hands-on, work experience focused on operating a small farm. The intern will have the opportunity to learn organic and sustainable poultry planning, management and operations. Selection of poultry type will depend on student interests and time availability. The intern will be involved with poultry care including feeding and ensuring health on an ongoing basis. Student will be involved in farm maintenance and general farm equipment maintenance and repair associated with poultry raising. There will also be opportunities for the Intern to help develop and implement farm record keeping and other farm practices for poultry operations. There will be an opportunity for intern to learn how to utilize a drone for poultry raising optimization applications. Speaking and/or understanding Spanish is helpful, but not required. 

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Learn Equipment Maintenance:
- Work with owners on farm equipment repairs
- Assist owners on farm equipment maintenance
- Maintain irrigation equipment
- Keep maintenance records
Learn Husbandry Farming and Management:
- General overview of poultry raising practices
- Assist with poultry selection for optimal farm utilization
- Assist with feeding and care of poultry animals
- Be willing and able to learn new skills and help with various poultry farming
practices
- Keep records of poultry operations including feed utilization
- Learn poultry organic business practices
Learn Drone Utilization for Farming Optimization:
- General overview of drone utilization for farming and poultry raising practices
- Be willing and able to learn new skills and help develop drone utilization techniques

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Intern will be working with poultry and exposed to other farm animals and farm-related chemicals. Additionally, working with farm equipment and feed.
