ViticultureAt — Oakdale Farm
The Oakdale Ranch internship program is a hands-on, work experience focused on operating a small farm. The intern will have the opportunity to learn viticulture planning, management and irrigation management. The intern will be involved with farm area maintenance and general farm equipment maintenance and repair. There will also be opportunities for the Intern to help develop and implement farm record keeping and practices for viticulture operations. There will be an opportunity for intern to learn how to utilize a drone for farming optimization applications. Speaking and/or understanding Spanish is helpful, but not required.
Learn Equipment Maintenance:
- Work with owner on farm equipment repairs
- Assist owner on farm equipment maintenance
- Install and Maintain irrigation systems
- Keep irrigation records
Learn Farming Operations and Management:
- General overview of farming and viticulture practices
- Assist with the planting and establishment of a viticulture area
- Assist with irrigation system installation watering schedule, fertilizing and weed
abatement
- Be willing and able to learn new skills and help with various farming practices
Learn Drone Utilization for Farming Optimization:
- General overview of drone utilization for farming and viticulture practices
- Be willing and able to learn new skills and help develop drone utilization techniques
Intern will be exposed to farm animals, work with farm equipment, fertilizer and other possible farm-related chemicals.
