Marketing CoordinatorAt — CSUF - College of Communications
The marketing internship position requires the student to manage all social media, events and marketing efforts executed for the Daily Titan student newspaper. This position is based in the advertising department of the Daily Titan and the position will be directly supervised by the faculty adviser.
The position will require the student to create new engagement tactics for both potential Daily Titan clients and readers, create posts and a timeline for all Daily Titan social media platforms, plan and execute two client on-campus events and manage online advertising-related content for the Daily Titan website. The marketing intern will also regularly update the marketing plan for the semester that outlines all related activities for the semester with at least three objectives for the semester and require assessment of those objectives at the end of the semester.
The marketing intern also will work closely with the sales director to ensure synergy and efficiency within the advertising department. In addition, the marketing intern will meet weekly with the faculty adviser. More formal meetings with the sales director and adviser will occur monthly.
Here is a sample list of tasks that will need to be performed by the Marketing Director:
* Meet regularly with advertising adviser and director of sales.
* Manage communication with graphic designers to ensure all creative content meets deadlines and department standards.
* Manage all aspects of social media posts for both in-house announcements and client announcements.
* Create and execute new engagement strategies for both potential clients and readers.
* Manage all aspects of on-campus client events which requires communication with on-campus representatives, director of sales, account executives and clients.
* Coordinate all additional marketing efforts of the office that include Adrax poster placement and online ads.
Training:
There are several facets to ongoing training for the marketing intern:
* The marketing intern will be part of an all-staff orientation that will occur at the beginning of the semester.
* The faculty adviser will conduct weekly meetings with the marketing intern to review overall goals for the semester, ongoing tasks and assessment of weekly activities.
* The faculty adviser will also meet with the marketing intern to review updates to the marketing plan that will need to be created, executed and analyzed.
* In addition, the marketing intern will gain additional knowledge through industry professionals and colleagues through the Daily Titan's membership with CMBAM (College Media Business and Advertising Managers).
Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the importance of planning and managing multiple marketing-related tasks within a compressed amount of time.
2. Execute an integrated marketing and social media campaign independently.
3. Plan, execute and follow-though with a multi-client event.
4. Understand the significance of integrated marketing efforts as they relate to client business objectives.
