Physical Therapy Intern/AideAt — REPAIR Sports Institute
At REPAIR SI we pride ourselves on continuing education and top-quality
mentorship for each and every student that is a part of our program. Our main goals at RSI for our student internship program is to better your knowledge base, increase outstanding clinical experience, exposure and increase your overall comfort in the clinic and in the field of sports medicine (PT). REPAIR would also like to expose each student to their opinions on the future of Sports Physical Therapy.
REPAIR Sports Institute is a multidisciplinary outpatient orthopedic sports practice started in Orange County in 2015. REPAIR believes in functional medicine that improves each and every patient's overall well-being of their mind, body and spirit. REPAIR accomplishes their beliefs by using high-level research and having authentic compassion towards all of their patients.
- Keeping the clinic organized and clean
- Consistent communication with aides, Physical Therapists, Front desk, and patients
- Understanding of exercise progression, regression and basic mechanics
- Understanding of basic physical therapy diagnosis and treatments
- Setting up patients on traction, heat, blood flow restriction along with other modalities used in the clinic
- Understanding of the benefits of PT, acupuncture and chiropractor for a patients well being
- Understanding basic human anatomy/physiology
Training:
1 on 1 training and shadowing from an aide manager along with weekly check ins from a Physical Therapist. Skills check offs from aide supervisor to demonstrate competency in exercises, modality set up/take off and general understanding of clinic flow.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Become proficient in Organization, Time management and Communication.
2. Ability to verbalize precautions for injury prevention and disease control in the clinical setting.
3. Ability to perform, teach and assess mechanics of different exercises.
4. Gain clinical experience and confidence in the field of sports medicine Physical Therapy.
