Opportunity Summary 

Oscar & Ma is a nonprofit organization dedicated to organizing events for other nonprofit organizations and providing workforce development training to underserved demographics. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Outreach Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing our volunteer program and supporting outreach efforts to enhance the event side of Oscar & Ma. Your passion for community engagement and event planning will contribute to the success of our mission.

Responsibilities:

    1. Volunteer Program Development:

    • Work alongside the Academy Director to design and implement a comprehensive volunteer program, including recruitment, training, and engagement strategies.

    • Collaborate with the event planning team to identify volunteer needs and develop descriptions for various volunteer opportunities.

    • Lead the design process to create an onboarding process, including orientation and follow-up procedures, to ensure a positive volunteer experience.

    • Draft email blasts, social media, and other media platforms.

    • Design a volunteer recognition program to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of volunteers.

    • Coordinate a \\Volunteer Evaluation\\ process to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.

    • Collaborate with upper management and marketing professionals to strategize and implement various outreach initiatives.

    • Attend community events, fairs, and meetings to promote Oscar & Ma's mission and build relationships with local business owners, officials, and community leaders.

    • Assist leadership in maintaining relationships with local partners, including community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions.

Vendor and Donor Engagement:

    • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, compiling a comprehensive vendor database.

    • Conduct vendor vetting and research event planning software to enhance vendor selection and management processes.

    • Collaborate with top management to present vendor options and request estimates for event-related services.

    • Create a database of potential donors and assist in coordinating donor recognition initiatives.

    • Participate in site visits at vendor locations and venues for fundraising events.

Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is preferred.

    • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

    • Knowledge of event planning and volunteer management principles and practices.

    • Proficiency in research and data collection techniques.

    • Experience in community outreach and engagement activities.

    • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

    • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate records and documentation.

 Training:

The student will attend weekly staff meetings with upper management, one-on-one mentorship from the Director of Program Development, complete online trainings focused on their areas of interest and skill set development.
