Opportunity Summary 

  • Prepare multiple states' Medicare and Medicaid cost reports

  • Facilitate the preparation of all supplemental reporting to the Federal and State government.

  • Research new or proposed changes in multiple state Medicaid reimbursement programs

  • Develop financial rate projections and present projections in a comprehensible manner to both accounting and operational partners

  • Work with operational leaders on impacts to rates for various financially driven scenarios

  • Perform analytics of trends and variances regarding net reimbursement rates

  • Keep up-to-date on Medicare and Medicaid regulations

  • Support accounting and operations with accurately categorizing expenses to the correct cost category

  • Analyze specific accounts such as accrued expense and revenue accounts related to Reimbursement

Tasks:

Bad debt reconciliation
review proposed audit adjustments
submission of Colorado financial reports

Training:

Training will consist of the following:
intern will shadow on government association calls
Train/demonstrate on how to research state and federal regulations
instruct the intern the importance of Time Management
the intern will learn how to utilize various software systems through one on one training
sign up the intern for state led training

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
Review accounts for discrepancies and reconcile differences.
Process invoices for payment.
utilize Spreadsheet software such as Microsoft excel
Examine financial records
Verify accuracy of financial information
