Counselor InternAt — New Directions

Opportunity Summary 

Psychology and Human Resources Majors for practicums and Graduate students in Masters program who are BBSE registered interns. MFT hours available, 8-15 hours a week initially. Paid per diem.

Intern will on a daily basis assist counselors registering new clients through providing written intake assessment forms and assist with monitoring client program attendance records, progress reports, and general office work. Richard Perla, PHD, LMFT will be supervising the intern.

The interns will gain knowledge about how a counseling center operates, documents used at the setting, coaching and counseling techniques, writing process notes,and general office procedures.

Also accepting undergraduate interns who are psychology, and related majors. Please obtain approval from your instructor for our site before applying**

Tasks
Research, client registration and discharge, file documentation, assist with group counseling. Summary writings, client feed back.

Training
Intern is provided orientation sessions, counselor shadowing, provided written materials and weekly mentoring. Daily feedback about their written performance and client communication. How to administer assessments to clients and evaluate results and document client attendance.
