Opportunity Summary 

The student provides support in daily operations to the coordinator and program. Student will learn preparator duties as needed to assist with preparation, installation, maintenance, and de-installation of exhibitions within the Library. This can include patching, taping, painting, and cleaning (dusting, sweeping, windows, display furniture, and so on) within exhibit venues/space. Will also include furniture logistics for all exhibition types (small or large). Other experience will include the handling of art or artifacts for exhibition; condition reporting, provenance research, other research related to project subject development, and file maintenance for exhibit archive. If time permits, the student may also develop their own small exhibition and participate in a CV writing workshop.

Assess and carry out the daily maintenance needs in a variety of exhibit venues.
Participation and support in a collaborative environment working with peers and supervisor alike.
Identify and select appropriate furniture and hardware for display of art and artifacts/objects.
Appropriately handle art and artifacts following industry protocols.
Conduct and complete research for project development.
Write and produce labels for exhibition.
Discern appropriate information/work experience for their CV.

Training  

Provide instruction and guidance in all aspects of exhibition coordination and planning, project research, development, and execution:
Experience with cleaning exhibition spaces, furniture (with or without vitrine), or art and artifact as needed;
Work together as a team I will provide guidance at all levels for individual and group/team learning opportunities while involving the student in the decision-making process; Join projects already in motion, instruct student on mechanics of and choices for current projects;
Work with student on installation allowing student opportunities for handling of art and/or objects for exhibition.
Where/when possible, provide an opportunity for the student to research and curate their own small project/exhibition..
Provide a CV writing workshop.

Tasks/Duties  

Carrying out the daily maintenance objectives in a successful/complete manner.
Successfully working as part of the team to complete exhibition goals within timelines provided.
Appropriately identify/select furniture for use in spring exhibitions.
Clearly and concisely convey research conducted;
Working in Canva, write cohesive and informative labels.
Create/craft a usable CV.
