CLA SoCal’s case management program’s purpose is to provide CLA SoCal clients with supportive services to support their legal outcomes. Case managers can support clients throughout the entire legal process which can impact their lives, their ability to be active participants in their legal case, achieve self-sufficiency and access to a life they choose.
CLA SoCal’s clients are low-income residents of Southeast Los Angeles County and Orange County with legal issues such as: immigration, public benefits, health, family law, etc. Often CLA SoCal’s clients have been impacted by trauma whilst attempting to navigate systems like, legal, healthcare, social services, education, etc.

Client\u202fServices
- \u202fStudents will be responsible for making initial Client Contact Activities
- Students will be responsible for reviewing initial referral and notes on Legal Server\u202f\u202f
- Students will be responsible for contacting client via telephone or preferred method of contact\u202f\u202f
- Students will provide overview of services: \u202f
- Students will confirm client consent for participation in case management services\u202f\u202f
- Students will review confidentiality and attorney/client privilege\u202f\u202f
Students will review scope of services\u202f and reason for referral - Student will assign case manager/intern first appointment on calendar\u202f
- Students will update Legal Server with appropriate notes\u202f\u202f
Projects
- Create a clear, culturally sensitive material for client use post case management services.
Training
The case management team will provide students with a two week onboarding training, followed by two weeks of shadowing their assigned supervisor. Students will be responsible for viewing/participating in 4 trainings a month. Students will receive one to one supervision once a week, and group supervision once a month.
