Opportunity Summary

They should strive to lead through the guidance of their own leaders to develop their own leadership style, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, empower those around them, and lead by example.

Tasks:

Intern will be on the floor, observing the process to train employees to learn/understanding the training process. Intern will not be working as a staff on the floor, just observing.

Shadow supervisor on their duties on what they do. She will be involved with new projects on re-training staff and supervisors then later work with managers to understand their level of supervision and project goals. She will learn staff tasks and engagement. Learn how employment methods so that it is not over barring , how to increase moral, learn supervisor training for staff.

For example:

Student must be able to understand the differences of a regular and a higher level employee
Student must framework and produce their own assessments to gauge an employee's experience level
Student must framework (based on an employee's speed of learning) methods to properly motivate or discipline an employee's work behavior
Student must understand why work environment affects employee behavior
Student must take on case studies to understand why administrative work and communication plays a huge role in work environment
Student must take on case studies to understand other underlying factors that contribute to motivation and work environment
Student will take on at least two current employees as experience to how they interact and facilitate the employee's experience in the company

Training:

The student will be given a base rundown of how our company operates, and will receive a small amount of training to understand the basics of a typical employee. They will then be taught (but not forced to understand) the concepts that separate a beginner employee to a seasoned worker, and how management works to facilitate that progress. A majority of this will be onsite and partially virtual training. Afterwards, they will be given case studies to see what type of problems management typically runs into and develop their responses to these problems, which will be held through virtual meetings and a bit of in person shadowing.

Documents will be used to train on physical tasks and soft skills.

She will receive base level training on certain positions in the store and learn how the staff prioritize their tasks.

After every shift she will be quizzed on topics and will discuss with supervisor and receive feedback.

Learning Outcome:

The primary goal of this internship is to allow the student to be able to understand fundamental principles that apply to bettering the workspace environment for employees. The employee would not only learn what separates a good work environment to a bad one, but they will framework (with guidance) their own projects to foster a better environment. Major learning keypoints are to assess the workplace, brainstorm ways to improve employee morale/productivity given the particular company structure, understanding how to execute in an organized and thoughtful manner, understanding why engagement to employees is important, and much more.
