Opportunity Summary 

We are seeking motivated interns that want to gain hands-on experience and further develop their skills in Journalism and publishing. Must be passionate about music, community, and uplifting artists as our work revolves around these principles.

  • Responsibilities:

    • Researching and writing articles on music news, album reviews, emerging artists, the local community, and other relevant topics.
    • Pitching and developing compelling story ideas to captivate our audience.
    • Assisting in proofreading and fact-checking articles before publication.
    • Collaborating with team members to produce high-quality content for Nothing Mag platforms and magazine.
    • Conducting interviews with musicians and industry professionals.
    • Create and distribute promotional materials- including newsletters and press releases for events.

    Requirements:

    • Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
    • Familiarity with AP style and the ability to adhere to editorial guidelines.
    • A passion for music journalism and enthusiasm for discovering new artists.
    • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite.
    • Must send writing samples to be considered for this position.

Training:

During this placement, students will receive comprehensive training to facilitate their learning outcomes. The training program includes an initial mandatory orientation, which provides an introduction and overview of the organization and its policies. Additionally, students will have weekly meetings to discuss new projects and personal assignments. \u2028\u2028To enhance their understanding of the job, students will have opportunities for job shadowing and one on one mentor meetings to address any questions or concerns, and receive guidance on their tasks. \u2028\u2028To ensure a practical learning experience, students will be provided with work samples that demonstrate the expected quality and standards. Furthermore, an overview and contextualization of assigned tasks will be given to help students understand the purpose and relevance of their work within the organization.\u2028\u2028 Periodic one-on-one mentor meetings will be conducted to assess their understanding and progress.\u2028\u2028 Overall, the training provided during this placement aims to equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, and hands on experience to enhance their learning outcomes and prepare them for future professional endeavors.

Learning Outcomes:

-Develop compelling articles and implementing strategies to increase audience reach and engagement.
-Proofread and fact-checking articles before publication.
-Proficiently use Wordpress and efficiently publish articles on Nothing Mag platforms
-Conduct interviews with musicians and industry professionals.
-Know the foundations of event promotions; by distributing promotional materials, including newsletters and press releases.
