Answer and take calls from patients, checking messages and returning calls back to patients. Verifying insurance information and requesting authorizations and handling/organizing office paperwork.
The student will answer and take messages from patients along with checking messages and returning calls back to patients. The student will handle the insurance paperwork and call insurance companies if needed. The student will call pharmacies to confirm/ fix any issues with patients medications. Lastly, the student will handle office paperwork and request authorizations for upcoming appointments.
Training:
The training included with this internship includes shadowing the front office in order to learn the different insurances accepted in office. Learning how to answer calls and return call back to patients. Learning how to call insurance companies if any difficulties with patients' insurance and call pharmacies to confirm medications. Lastly, weekly check ins with office manager.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the academic internship, the student will able to understand the insurance plans offered for patients.
