Responsibilities
- Draft correspondence and backgrounders on grants provided by federal executive departments.
- Compose a weekly federal update to inform clients of Congressional activity and actions of the Administration.
- Conduct, organize, and synthesize issue and legislative research on mental health, K-12 education and labor force.
- Attend virtual Congressional hearings and agency webinars and provide concise written overviews.
- Learn about advocacy, public policy and grant writing through daily activities
- Manage and update website content using Squarespace Website Builder.
- Draft letters of support as part of grant applications.
- Compose a monthly transportation update.

Learning Outcome #1: Prepare and organize client visits to Washington, D.C.
Learning Outcome #2: Create an outreach/relationship building strategy for at least 3 company clients.
Learning Outcome #3: Draft at least 3 sections of a federal and/or state grant narrative.
Learning Outcome #4: Draft at least one budget of a federal and/or state grant.
Learning Outcome #5: Primary uploader into Grants.gov or other government system for at least one federal grant.
Training:
Learning Outcome #1 Training: Job shadowing Manager, reviewing orientation/training materials.
Learning Outcome #2 Training: Weekly scheduled one-on-one mentor meetings.
Learning Outcome #3 Training: Review of successful applications with Supervisor to discuss why applications are and are not successful, based on politics, the NOFO/RFP (instructions), attachments, and other factors.
Learning Outcome #4 Training: Job shadowing Budget Manager to understand how to draft a budget/budget narrative.
Learning Outcome #5 Training: Workshops/skills training provided by both government agencies and CAP staff.
