Social Work Grad Student Intern / PracticumAt — Olive Crest
Master’s level intern currently enrolled in a Master’s program of Marriage and Family Therapy or Clinical Social Work. Will be conducting mental health assessments, diagnosing, treatment/discharge planning, and weekly therapy. Therapy may include individual, group, and collateral therapy. Intern will also be documenting progress notes within 72 hours of the service date. Intern will also be collaborating with other staff and participating in case consultations, monthly staff meetings, weekly individual & group supervision, and trainings. Intern will also be participating in developing group curriculums and may have opportunities to participate in outreach events.
Spanish preferred but not required.
Tasks:
1. Completing intake assessments and diagnostic assessments.
2. Developing treatment plans with families with the guidance of supervisor.
3. Schedule and conduct outreach to clients and families.
4. Provide individual and family therapy to their caseload of clients assigned to them.
5. Participate in weekly individual and group supervision.
6. Participate in case management/consultation meetings as needed based on the client’s needs that arise.
7. Student may collaborate/speak with county social workers, foster care social workers, or other professionals as part of a client’s treatment team.
8. Provide referrals/linkage to clients and facilitate termination of clients as they meet their treatment goals.
Training:
1. Mandator onboarding trainings consistent with agency standards.
2. Weekly one on one supervision meetings with clinical supervisor
3. Weekly 2 hour group supervision with a clinical supervisor and peers.
4. Case shadowing
5. Trainings on CalAIM and agency standards for documentation and using electronic health records
6. Review of case samples and review of student’s current cases.
7. Progress note and assessment reviewed by supervisor.
8. Modeling of intake/sessions by a staff/supervisor.
Learning Outcome:
By the end of the academic internship, student will be able to:
1. Facilitate and complete a diagnostic assessment including presenting problems, symptoms, impairments, and DSM V Diagnosis.
2. Develop treatment plans with clients/families using S.M.A.R.T. goals.
3. Document sessions consistent with CalAIM guidelines and utilize E.H.R. while following HIPPA laws.
4. Present case conceptualizations summarizing reason for diagnosis and treatment plans while taking into account a client’s cultural background, mental health/family history, and strengths.
5. Conduct individual and family therapy sessions consistent with treatment goals developed.
