Daily Classroom Responsibilities
1. Assist the lead teacher in enriching the overall classroom environment by prepping and
maintaining materials. Assist with daily classroom cleaning.
2. Greet children and parents. Help children separate from parents during drop off when
necessary.
3. Set up and clean up snack.
4. Help children sit in circle and focus on teacher’s instruction so that lead teacher does
not have to stop a lesson to redirect behavior.
5. Apply knowledge of sound early childhood education, developmental concepts, and
principles within the goals and philosophy of the school.
6. Assist with general hygiene practices including bathroom and diapering needs.
7. Act as a role model to the children in regard to appearance, behavior, and language.
8. Get down at the child’s level when communicating and use a clear and concise manner.
9. Maintain classroom supplies such as paper, sharpened pencils, cups, crayons, art project
materials, etc., and replenish as needed. The lead teacher will supervise.
10. Interact with parents in a positive and professional manner. Avoid discussing problems
regarding their child. This is the responsibility of the lead teacher or the Director.
11. Relate any problems regarding unusual occurrences of the children to the teacher or the
Director promptly.

12. When supervising on playground, circulate constantly so the children know you are
available to them when help is needed. This is not a time for socializing among coworkers.
13. Play ball with the children out in the playground but always remember to keep a
roaming eye on other children.
14. Function as a lead teacher as needed if qualified to do so.
15. Assist children regarding appropriate clothing: straightening clothes, putting on jackets
when outside, hanging up when inside the classroom, tying shoes, keeping faces and
hands clean.
16. Acknowledge parents, be friendly and smile, both inside and outside of the classroom.
General Responsibilities
1. Meet all qualifications outlined in Title 22 and Personal Policies.
2. Report all unusual occurrences and behavior of children to parent and the Director
immediately.
3. Implement discipline as outlined in Discipline Policy.
4. Be available to attend and participate in all school-sponsored activities: Meet and
Greet, Open House, Teacher-Parent conference, Teacher Prep days, and In-Service
training.
5. Contact the director immediately for any personnel concerns or issues
6. Lead Teacher and Teacher’s Assistants are specifically not allowed to communicate to
staff or parents in a written manner, via text or email, that is not professional, engages
in gossip, discuss issues at other campuses, share opinions of others, speaks negatively
about others, discusses operational differences between campuses, share prior
violations at any campus, or personnel related issues for any employee UNLESS such
writing is approved prior to dissemination by the President. Violation will result in
immediate termination. If a written message is questionable to be “professional” either
do not send or obtain approval by the President.
7. Be able to lift 25 pounds.

The intern will demonstrate achievement of the learning outcomes by fulfilling all that is needed for course and while juggling the needs of the school and students.

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to apply concepts learned in class, multitask with supervision and presenting lessons.
