The intern will be assisting Dr and hygienist in all facets legally able to do so. Infection-control adherence, patient interaction, scheduling appointments, and explaining procedures to patients is also part of the position.

Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare patients and exam areas
Sterilize and set up instruments and equipment
Take X-rays
Assist dentists with exams and procedures
Perform lab tasks
Perform administrative tasks
Requirements and Qualifications

Proven dental assistant experience
Great communication
Computer proficiency

Training:

The intern will be fully trained within a week to assist the doctor and the hygienist and will do so for the rest of the internship. The intern will also understand the confidentiality requirements of this position.

Learning Outcomes:

Intern will thoroughly understand the job duties and responsibilities of an assistant as well as that of the dentist and hygienist.
The intern will understand and adhere to infection control standards using universal precautions as required in the dental office.
The intern will understand the terminology and procedures performed in a general dentist's office and participate as much as he/she is legally allowed to do so.
