Opportunity Summary 

Teaching Assistant interns for PSYC 306L will assist course instructor in preparing labs, grade course assignments, facilitate lab groups during lab activities, provide assistance to students by answering general questions, and more. The intern will be expected to attend all lab sessions, participate in weekly team meetings, and assist in review all lab materials and activities prior to the next class session.

Learning Outcomes  

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:
- Understand how to analyze and interpret statistical analyses.
- Have a working understanding of various neuromethods for experimental and/or medical purpose.
- Understand how assignments are created and assess student learning in a classroom environment.
- Be able to apply various psychological concepts in the field of biopsychology.
- Improve their skills in writing scientific papers.

Training  

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will:
- Have ongoing trainings in the form of weekly team meetings where we discuss upcoming classes/labs and discuss with the intern the framework/relevant background information for the lab activity.
- Review the students approach to grading and provide feedback to how they're grading accordingly.
- Ongoing specific trainings to data analysis review and lab report writing.
- Provide course materials ahead of weekly meetings, review lecture materials and the concepts guiding all laboratory exercises as well. This will also include preparing the student with potential questions students may ask.

Tasks/Duties  

- Have the intern review and assist in grading student lab reports so I can provide feedback on the interns working knowledge of how lab reports are structured/written.
- Have the intern prepare class datasets from lab experiments for students to analyze data. In doing so, I will also have the student analyze the data and draft a tentative results section so they have that for grading purposes.
- Have the intern assist in facilitating lab activities while answering students questions so they connect concepts together for practical application in an experimental situation.
