The Teaching Assistant at St. Marks Lutheran School plays a vital role in supporting both the educational and developmental needs of students within a nurturing, faith-centered environment. This position involves assisting the lead teacher in delivering instructional materials and facilitating classroom activities. The Teaching Assistant provides one-on-one or small group support to students, helping to manage classroom behavior and ensure a positive and respectful learning atmosphere. Responsibilities also include preparing classroom materials and maintaining accurate student records. Effective communication with students, parents, and staff is essential, as is participation in school events to foster a strong sense of community. The Teaching Assistant contributes significantly to advancing the school’s mission of providing high-quality education grounded in Christian values.
1. Support Classroom Instruction: Prepare and deliver educational materials in collaboration with the lead teacher. Provide targeted assistance to students who need extra help, reinforcing lesson content through one-on-one or small group instruction.
2. Implement Classroom Behavior Strategies: Apply and manage behavior management techniques to maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment. Address behavioral issues and use strategies to foster an engaging and orderly learning space.
3. Professional Communication:Communicate clearly and professionally with students and colleagues. Participate in discussions and meetings, contribute to a collaborative environment, and provide updates on student progress as needed.
4. Organize and Maintain Classroom Materials:vEfficiently manage and organize classroom supplies and resources. Ensure that educational materials are prepared and readily available, and maintain accurate student records.
5. Administer Assessments and Maintain Testing Routines: Assist in administering and scoring assessments. Follow established testing routines and help interpret results to support student learning and track progress.
6. Assist with Classroom Setup and Logistics: Help set up and organize the classroom for daily activities, including arranging learning centers and managing classroom logistics to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment.
Training:
- Initial orientation covering work practices and emergency procedures
