Community Engagement InternsAt — Miracle Babies

Opportunity Summary 

The Community Engagement Intern will support the Development Team by assisting in outreach efforts to current and potential community partners. This role is ideal for students or recent graduates seeking experience in nonprofit development, public relations, and community engagement. The intern will play a key role in furthering Miracle Babies’ mission by helping to build and maintain relationships that support our programs and initiatives.

Tasks:

1) Outreach and Partnership Building:
- Assist in identifying and reaching out to prospective community partners, including local businesses, organizations, and individuals.
- Help maintain and strengthen relationships with existing community partners.
- Support the coordination of partnership meetings and events.

Media Planning and Public Relations:

2) Participate in the development of media strategies to enhance Miracle Babies’ visibility in the community.
- Assist in drafting press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials.
- Support the creation and execution of public relations campaigns.

3) Writing and Editing:
- Contribute to the creation of content for Miracle Babies’ website, blog, and social media platforms.
- Assist in writing and editing grant proposals, reports, and other documents related to fundraising and outreach.

4) Research:
-Conduct research on potential community partners, funding opportunities, and relevant community events.
- Compile data and information that will aid in developing engagement strategies and reports.

Training:

During the internship, students will receive hands-on training and mentorship directly from the Executive Director and Development Manager. Interns will work closely with these leaders to complete projects that are critical to Miracle Babies' community engagement and development efforts. This includes:

1) One-on-One Mentorship: Interns will have regular meetings with the Executive Director and Development Manager to discuss project progress, receive feedback, and gain insights into nonprofit management and development strategies.

2) Skill Development: Through direct involvement in real-world projects, interns will develop essential skills in media planning, public relations, writing, editing, and research. They will also learn how to effectively engage with community partners and contribute to the organization's mission.

3) Project-Based Learning: Interns will be assigned specific projects that align with their career goals and academic interests, allowing them to apply their theoretical knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to the success of the organization.

This training will provide interns with valuable experience that can be applied in future professional roles, particularly in the nonprofit sector.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to
1) Gain hands-on experience in community outreach and nonprofit development.
2) Develop skills in media planning, public relations, and content creation.
3) Learn how to build and maintain relationships with community partners.
4) Understand the role of community engagement in advancing a nonprofit’s mission.
