Teen Programming InternAt — Girls Incorporated of Orange County
Girls Incorporated of Orange County is a non-profit agency serving girls ages 5-18. All programs are delivered with a youth development approach, which addresses the comprehensive needs of girls and their families and encompasses areas such as pregnancy prevention, healthy body image and self-esteem, academic achievement, participation in sports, substance abuse prevention, economic literacy, and excellence in math, science and technology.
Teen programming intern positions are open to folks looking for one-on-one mentoring and connection opportunities with Girls Inc participants, Girls Inc. of Orange County staff and volunteer.
You will be able to engage with our available \\teen\\ curriculum that provides essential lessons on social-emotion learning skills such as healthy relationships, health and wellness, while also highlighting essential STEM and advocacy skills.
Interns will be responsible for- but not limited to
- Co-facilitation of prevention and education programs
- Creating daily/weekly reports on girls' progress
- Assist with crisis interventions, assessment and referral
- Attendance logging and tracking
- Assist with overseeing group participation and interaction
- Moderating Discussion Boards and ensuring participant engagement, while checking for inappropriate language or behavior
- Badge and Point system tracking for incentives
Tasks:
- Co-facilitate program curricula
- Prepare program activities via Zoom and Canvas
- Classroom management
- Communicate with parents/guardians and participants as needed
-Research program activities ideas
Training:
Throughout the intern's training, they will:
1. Attend an orientation overviewing volunteer handbook, facilitating skills, and other matters pertaining to target demographic issues.
2. Receive position-specific training by facilitators according to assigned roles.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, students will be able to:
1. Facilitate community programs, including planning and implementing course curriculum.
2. Address issues related to women empowerment.
