Fine Art Instructor for PK/K, K/2, and elementary age sketching students.

Tasks:

Learn 3 lessons per week.
Create samples of those lessons.
Complete a lesson plan for the hour.
Teach the lesson.
Review the lesson with supervisor.
Improve the lesson.
Inventory supplies for weeks ahead.
Write student progress reports monthly.

Training:

Teachers will be asked to create lesson plans for review prior to teaching. Lesson plans will be reviewed for clarity and time management. After teaching, teachers will sit down to review what went well and what can be improved for the next class scheduled. Weekly scheduled reviews will be conducted on Saturdays. Teachers will job shadow one advanced level class each week to contrast with the classes they are in charge of in order to see the different communication skills needed. Teachers will also provide work samples before and after teaching.

Learning outcome:

By the end of the academic internship the student will be able to:
1) successfully implement age-appropriate and age-specific curriculum within the allotted time structure provided
2) identify individual student needs within the context of a classroom environment
3) breakdown communicate complex concepts so that students take ownership of the information
4) build a love for learning in the students
5) teach student to embrace the process of learning and making mistakes and focus on process
