La Vista Teen Parent Child Care AssistantAt — Fullerton Joint Union High School District

Intern will support the various child care rooms based on the daily needs of the children at the site. The intern will follow the supervision of the child care teacher and help with the play and feeding schedule of the child care room. This may include working with the infants, toddlers and school age children.

Duties include:

• Arrange childcare or educational settings to ensure physical safety of children
• Clean tools or equipment
• Provide personal assistant, emotional support, or other personal care to children in his/her care.
• Provide assistance to childcare teachers and communicate with students/parents of the children
• Identify the educational needs of children.

Intern must complete a volunteer packet and get Live Scan and TB testing completed before commencing internship.

Tasks:

Training:

-New Employee Orientation
-Work closely with the childcare teachers in the childcare classroom
-Observation and shadowing childcare teachers
-Meet with Lead teacher to go over student progress and performance
-Meet with Child Care Director to go over progress and performance

Learning Outcome:

-Understand the role of the early childhood teacher assistant as well as identifying learning areas in the early childhood classroom environment
-Identify and successfully examine classroom tools, activities, etc. used for play in early learning environments.
-Gain knowledge in Child Development, early childhood curriculum, teaching and parent/teacher communication
-Identify and meet the individual needs of the young children in the childcare classroom
-Understand and maintain childcare health and safety procedures and regulations
