KNES Internship
Responsibilities/duties of Student Intern:
Interns will assist the staff with the application of therapeutic exercise programs.
Interns will assist the staff with the application of therapeutic modalities.
Interns will assist the staff with answering the phones and maintaining the gym equipment.
Clean tables and equipment.
Supervisors: Nathan Longcrier, MS,ATC; Michael Kingsbury, MS,ATC
Skills/experience gained by intern:
Skills/experience gained could lead to employment as a PT Aide in an outpatient clinic.
Understanding/appreciation of demands of both Physical Therapy and Athletic Training professions.
Accumulation of hours required for application to most Physical Therapy and Athletic Training education programs.

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS
- Assist the staff with the application set up of therapeutic exercise programs
- Assist the staff with the application set up of therapeutic modalities
- Assist the staff with answering the phones and maintaining gym equipment
- Gain an understanding/appreciation for physical rehabilitation & athletic training
STUDENTS LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Observing how an athletic trainer interacts with their patients and how they make a connection with each one.
- Learn the responsibilities of an athletic trainer.
- Gain as much hands-on experience in the clinic environment.
- Being able to connect what they have learned in Kinesiology courses to the physical rehabilitation department.
ACTIVITIES / ASSIGNMENTS (connect to above SLOs) HOURS/WEEK
- Sit-in evaluations 1-2 Hours
- Shadow an athletic trainer 8 Hours
- Participate/Interact with patients 8 Hours
- Being quizzed on different things learned in the PRS clinic. 1 Hours
