Opportunity Summary 

This is a teaching assistant position for the COMM 346 Principles of Entertainment & Tourism course. The TA is required to produce some content for the 346 class in the forms of lectures, presentations, assignments, quiz questions and exam questions. Furthermore, the TA will assist the professor in evaluating students' assignments. The TA is also expected to assist students individually with their needs relative to the class content.

Learning Outcomes  

Demonstrate the ability to apply strategic goal/outcome-oriented planning and assessment to professional practice
(At a minimum, assessed by assignments 1 and progress reports)
Demonstrate the ability to apply field knowledge to professional practice
(At a minimum, assessed by assignments 2-3)
Demonstrate the development of a work portfolio and appropriate preparation for the job market
(At a minimum, assessed by assignments 2-4)
Demonstrate the ability to critically self-reflect in order to enhance their skills and/or performance
(At a minimum, assessed by progress and final report)

Training  

Consult with the TA on a regular basis to ensure assigned tasks are properly completed
Provide meaningful feedback to the TA to ensure they understand their progress
Offer opportunities to the TA to develop course content, under my supervision
Review the TA's self assessments to ensure that the TA understands their performance

Tasks/Duties  

Creation of quiz and exam questions
Development of in-class assignments for students in the course
Assessing student work via a prescribed rubric
Preparing and presenting at least one lesson to students in the course
Developing a portfolio and reflection of their TA work over the course of the semester
