Digital Marketing Intern (Hospitality + Tourism) W/Spr 2025At — Modern Currency PR

Opportunity Summary 

MCPR, an award-winning, boutique, luxury hospitality & marketing public relations agency based in Los Angeles, CA, seeks a super savvy digital intern with a deep interest in hospitality & social media to join our growing team this Winter 2025 (January – April 2025 ). Candidates must possess a passion for social media, luxury travel, restaurants, food culture/lifestyle (think recipes, food trends) and wanderlust for international travel/tourism to work intimately alongside a team of seasoned senior-level media industry professionals within an engaging boutique agency environment. Ideal candidates are creative, visually inclined & have a strong understanding of the digital landscape.

The unpaid internship will be virtually-based and remote (at least 2 days per week) between 9am – 5:30pm. All candidates must be enrolled in college and eligible to receive academic credit.

Tasks:

The intern will demonstrate their learning outcomes by engaging in the following specific tasks and activities throughout the internship:

 

  • Content Creation & Curation:
    • The intern will assist in creating visually compelling social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. This includes selecting images, crafting captions, and scheduling posts.
    • The intern will help research current trends in luxury travel, hospitality, and food culture to help curate content that aligns with our clients' brand identities.

 

  • Social Media Management:
    • The intern will support the management of client social media accounts by engaging with followers, responding to comments, and assisting with monitoring analytics to understand engagement trends.
    • The intern will learn to use social media management tools (i.e. Later) to schedule posts and track the performance of campaigns.

 

  • Digital Strategy Development:
    • The intern will collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop digital marketing strategies tailored to each client’s needs. This may include influencer outreach, email marketing campaigns, and targeted advertising efforts.
    • The intern will assist in analyzing competitors’ digital strategies and provide insights that could be applied to MCPR’s client campaigns.

 

  • Research & Reporting:
    • The intern will assist in conducting research on industry trends, competitive analysis, and potential digital marketing opportunities for clients.
    • The intern will assist in compiling monthly performance reports for clients, which include analytics data and key takeaways from social media and digital marketing efforts.

 

  • Client Collaboration & Communication:
    • The intern will observe and participate in client meetings (virtually) to understand client expectations and project scopes.
    • The intern will help prepare client agendas and follow-ups where/when appropriate.

We are committed to providing our interns with a comprehensive training experience that facilitates their growth and learning outcomes. The following details outline our training approach:

 

  • Onboarding & Orientation:
    • The internship will begin with a thorough orientation session where the intern will be introduced to MCPR’s mission, values, client portfolio, and digital marketing practices. This includes an overview of our communication protocols, and remote work expectations.
    • The intern will be provided with a detailed internship handbook, which outlines day-to-day expectations, key resources, and contact information for the team.

 

  • One-on-One Meetings & Feedback:
    • The intern will have daily one-on-one meetings with their direct supervisor to review their progress, discuss upcoming tasks, and address any questions or challenges they may be facing (only on days when scheduled to be online).
    • These meetings will include constructive feedback on their work, allowing the intern to refine their skills and adjust their approach as needed.

 

  • Job Shadowing & Observational Learning:
    • The intern will have the opportunity to shadow senior-level media professionals during client calls, campaign brainstorming sessions, and digital strategy meetings. This observational learning will provide insights into how professionals operate within the luxury hospitality and PR industry.
    • The intern will also observe the process of digital content creation, including the planning, execution, and performance analysis of campaigns.

 

  • Direct Instruction:
    • The supervisor will provide direct instruction on key digital marketing tools and platforms, such as social media management software, content creation tools, and analytics dashboards. The intern will receive guided tutorials and hands-on practice to build proficiency.
    • The intern will participate in training sessions focused on industry best practices, including brand voice development, audience targeting, and social media trends.

 

  • Feedback & Evaluation:
    • The intern’s performance will be evaluated mid-term and at the end of the internship. These evaluations will assess the intern’s progress, skill development, and overall contribution to the team. Feedback will be provided to help the intern recognize their strengths and identify areas for improvement.

Learning Outcome:

The intern will be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

 Creative caption writing + grid building
 Familiarization with Tagger & Canva
 Event coordination: influencer-attended events and hospitality/tourism industry
 Client Service: creative brainstorming for client pitches, events and programming, curation of client clip reports, briefing and memos, influencer profiles/backgrounds and other documents
 Research & target identification
 Community management & engagement
 Graphic design & new business development
