Opportunity Summary 

As a Public Relations Intern, you'll support our mission to inspire young performers by helping to build and maintain a positive public image for our organization. You’ll assist with crafting engaging content for social media, newsletters, and press releases, coordinating community outreach efforts, and aiding in planning fundraiser events. You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with our team to develop PR strategies that highlight our programs and achievements, fostering connections with our supporters and media outlets. This role is perfect for a creative communicator with a passion for the arts and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young performers.

Content Creation
- Write and schedule social media posts and newsletters.
- Draft press releases, media kits, and promotional materials.
-Assist with photography and video content for events and performances.
Media Relations
- Research and maintain a database of media contacts.
- Assist with pitching stories to local media and handling media inquiries.
- Monitor and archive media coverage related to the organization.
Event Promotion
- Support planning and promotion of events, performances, and community outreach activities.
- Help coordinate logistics for press attendance and manage event day PR activities.
Community Engagement
- Assist with outreach efforts to schools, community groups, and local organizations.
- Help organize and promote community engagement initiatives and partnerships.
Strategy Development
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop PR campaigns and strategies.
- Analyze audience engagement metrics and provide insights to improve outreach.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain and update media and PR records, including contact lists and event documentation.
- Assist with preparing reports on PR activities and outcomes.
Crisis Communication
- Support the development of response strategies for any issues affecting the organization’s reputation.
Research
- Conduct research on industry trends, target audiences, and media opportunities to support PR efforts.

Training: 

Student will be recieving an orientation with the director and the social media manager to learn about our values and the type of content we are looking to create and post, flexible weekly meetings with the director to work on event co-ordination, press releases, newsletters, and various outreach projects, flexible bi-weekly meetings with the social media manager to work on content creation.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the academic internship the student will be able to create and release a coordinated press campaign, master content creation, understand crisis communication, and build professionalism through hands-on teamwork and networking opportunities.
