Radio/Tv/Film/Broadcast intern (Fall 2024)At — Channel LA36
LA36 is the educational channel for the city of Los Angeles and we also have an on-site production studio with the capability to do live productions with our mobile studio truck as well. Each semester, we reach out to the local schools for students who have the desire to further their education in television production. Our internship program is the perfect opportunity to give students a hands-on training in television production from the studio and on-site live productions. Should you be chosen, you would work alongside our staff who will give you their many years of experience in television production. Our internship program teaches you to work with cameras, lighting, set production, writing, editing, producing and directing. All of which, have come useful in landing future jobs as camera operators, set producers, production managers, writers, editors and reporters/anchors.
If this program is one that you are willing to participate in, please reply to this email so we can set up a telephone interview.
Here are the requirements of the program.
We would like to start the interview process before the next semester starts. Spaces are limited and we are offering the internship program to other schools in the OC and LA counties so program fills quickly.
Length of Internship Program:
3 months, however, 6 months would be preferred.
5 to 6 hours a week and the students must get credit for the program. We take record of the hours spent so if there is any verifying necessary, we can provide that for the school.
What We Offer:
We will train the students in all aspects of television production. We also have production shoots involving our mobile production truck. Our primary client is working closely with Board of Supervisors in LA County and we go anywhere the county wants us to go cover events for them. We also have in-house studio production. Students will learn what it is like to work a complete production from what it takes to be behind the camera.
Students must have a positive attitude and be willing to get their hands dirty. Production can be labor intensive so a good work ethic is a must. Most of our interns have gone on to their careers grateful to have this experience. Employers are more eager to hire someone who has this experience versus someone who is only one dimensional.
We will teach the basics of production, move on to the importance of camera work and to understanding the intricacies of telling a good story. We will test the interns ability to write and produce content and we will help hone these skills. Our staff has helped many interns in various areas and those interns have discovered their main focus of the direction they want to take their careers.
We guarantee that the interns will get a vast comprehension of television production.
What We Require:
A resume. We want to know more about the student and their interests.
- An Interview. We will treat this like we are hiring for a position which they are.
- Team building skills.
- Writing skills.
- Some basic editing skills with the understanding of how Adobe Premiere works.
- A positive attitude and good work ethic. Someone who is willing to take direction is a must.
- Sometimes our shoots will be afternoon into evenings so interns must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Reliable transportation. Must have a vehicle that the intern can depend on to get them to the studio or to a shoot. THIS IS A MUST
