HUSR 396 Academic Intern-A. De AlbaAt — CSUF - Transfer/Adult Reentry Center
Student intern will assist with supporting transfer, adult, re entry, parenting, and pregnant students. Student intern will familiarize themselves with the needs and strengths of TAPP students by attending peer mentorship meetings/events, general TAPP community building events, tabling events, and daily center interactions. Student will also have the opportunity to provide support and feedback for the peer mentorship program and present on a topic relevant to student support in the context of nontraditional students.
Learning Outcomes
- Recognize and understand common areas of need and areas of strength within the student population the TAPP Center serves
2. Identify on and off campus resources that are conducive to TAPP students academic, personal, and professional success.
3. Understand a peer mentorship model including background, practices, and impact
Training
Ask student to attend weekly professional development trainings related to TAPP student needs
Ask student to attend weekly 1:1 meetings to discuss, review, and reflect on the mentoring process
Have student complete the Inclusion Champion Certificate Program Trainings
Familiarize student with peer mentorship program goals, Yosso’s Community Cultural Wealth Model, and how it intersects
Tasks/Duties
Participating and engaging in monthly all mentor meetings and weekly all student staff trainings
Updating and adding to the mentee resource guide
Supporting with the brainstorming and implementation of programs and events
