Opportunity Summary 

Felix Ventures Foundation Internship

 

Purpose: The FVF foundation teaches leadership and life skills to its members thru wilderness activities and experiences that ranges from moderate/easy car camping to strenuous 9-day backpacking. We also seek for member to expand their thought and goals by exposing them to cultural events, community service, and campus tours/college guidance. We strive to inspire and push students to set high standards for themselves and excel their own expectations.

 

Location: 16303 E. Temple Ave. Industry CA. (Between 10fwy & 60fwy and 605fwy & 57fwy)

 

Key Responsibilities: Interns will have the responsibility of supervising the Felix Ventures Foundation officer’s quality of work and time management as well as assisting in the office work related to the assigned events and trips. FVF interns will begin by shadowing the FVF staff regarding the planning, organization, and execution of events and trips. By the end of the internship the college student intern will be expected to plan, organize, and execute an activity or trip with minimal supervision. The following is a list of duties for the internship position: Please note that each intern will receive a personalized list of duties that is beneficial to the intern as well as the agency.

 

· Attend Meetings: Staff Mtgs., Intern Mtgs., FV Officer Mtgs., Regular Mtgs.

· Organize, contact, and prepare events and meetings for the Alumni and Parent Association

· Proofreading and helping create flyers for all events and trips

· Reviewing the research and information compiled by the officers

· Help manage advertisement for FV events, trips, and meetings

· Help complete quarterly expense report

· Proof read Personal Statements and Essays (if applicable)

· Work with directly with specific officer/staff assigned to you

· Help guide and offer assistance to all officers and their positions

· Facilitate all aspects of the FVF office work

· Sample fall internship trips: Bike rides and car camping / Sample spring internship trips: Backpacking and rock climbing.

Direct Supervisors: Managing Director, Office Manager, FVF assigned staff

 

Time Commitment: Minimum of 3 hours each time intern comes in. Office hours 12pm to 6pm or later. Weekends time varies depending on Trip/Training/Clean-up. We are extremely flexible and strive to work with your schedule.

 

Qualifications:

Þ Sign up as a HLPUSD Volunteer

- Live scan (Cost: $40.00) (Reimbursed)

- TB Test (Cost not covered)

Þ Registration Forms (ARF/SR/SF/MF/RLF/CC/DPF/) (provided at interview)

Þ Complete BSA Youth Protection Training

Þ Desired: willingness to use personal vehicle (driver will be compensated for gas)

Þ Interview. (The interview date and time will be assigned after the completed application is submitted).

 

Dress Code: Business casual (office attire), camping/backpacking approved clothing (for specific trips/weekend trips), comfortable clothing (for equipment cleaning and inventory days)

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to understand the needs of the population our program serves, know basics of outdoor organization and wilderness training, know how to be professional in a office setting, know how to time communicate effectively and work with students and staff, be able to take initiative and perform task with minimal supervision, be able to promote and encourage Felix Ventures Foundation code of conduct and values, finally be able to provide resources, services, and support through our trainings, meetings, and array of trips.
