Administrative Intern - Graphics and MarketingAt — Ontario City Library

Opportunity Summary 

As part of a small team, assists with developing library department promotional and public relations graphics and social media.  Assists with writing, editing, designing, producing and distributing various pieces of publicity.  Engages with library staff to develop this publicity.  Assists with photography of library events and photo editing.  Assists library staff in creation of social media.  Engages with public to promote library services. 

Tasks:

Timely creation of graphics, including flyers, signs and social media images.
Photography of library and agency events.
Regular meetings with supervisor and graphics teams.
Graphics meetings with supervisors of library units to give feedback on graphics created.
Assisting library staff on editing social media as needed.

Training:

Initial orientation conducted by supervisor.
Training as needed on Canva, Adobe, Asana, IPhone video, and other software related to the position.
Receive ongoing timely feedback both in person and through Asana (which library uses to track graphic and social; media creation from beginning to end).
Weekly check ins with supervisor.
Working with agency wide graphics and marketing team (community life and culture agency includes central administration graphics team, museum graphics team, recreation graphics team, and housing graphics team). Will received timely feedback from these teams in addition to library feedback.

Learning Outcome:

1. Work with library staff from various units to create publicity pieces.
2. Understand the kinds of publicity that best fits the library’s needs.
3. Work as part of of a team to produce marketing and graphics.
4. Organizational and time management skills.
