Opportunity Summary 

Job description:
Intern will learn to communicate with various sources that assist directly /indirectly with mental health & addiction treatment. Communication will be both by email and phone. 

Research skills will be developed using web searches and databases to identify service-providing organizations with the intent of building a referral network and useable database for the foster youth community that we try to serve.

Training:
Intern will work alongside the YLR Director. S/he will receive an initial training on the mission and goals of YLR, existing outreach efforts, research methods, outreach techniques and our database systems. Once trained, the intern will work independently both from the office and remotely. The weekly schedule will consist of task assignments, in-person progress reporting and reviews and the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the organization or the youth we serve. Director will remain available remotely to the intern by phone and email and during office hours for questions throughout the internship.

Learning Outcomes:
Interns  will understand the role of networking and collaboration among service organizations as part of nonprofit management. S/he will learn non-profit management, communication, networking and organization skills. They will understand the issues faced by transitional-age emancipated foster youth, the resources available to them and the social and political challenges to meeting their needs.

This position is not available for academic credit.
