Opportunity Summary 

Are you passionate about events and making a difference? We’re looking for an Event Planning Intern to join our non-profit team and gain hands-on experience in planning and executing fundraising events that support pediatric cancer research. This internship is perfect for someone eager to learn about non-profit operations, event management, and fundraising strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support planning and execution of fundraising events.
  • Assist with donor and participant outreach to encourage engagement and attendance.
  • Assist with coordinating vendor communication, venue logistics, and volunteer schedules.
  • Help manage merchandise inventory and ship online orders.
  • Provide administrative support and track expenses.
  • Participate in event-day activities, including setup and guest assistance.

Tasks:

Participant Outreach: Engage with past event participants to encourage involvement and support for upcoming events.
Event Signage Management: Organize, inventory, and ensure all event signage is prepared and ready for use.
Event Day Preparation: Support packing, sorting, and organizing materials to ensure seamless event execution.
Volunteer Coordination: Assist with recruiting, assigning roles, and managing volunteers both prior to and during the event.
Vendor Relations: Help with vendor outreach, coordination, and day-of management to maintain smooth operations.

Training:

Students will receive hands-on training by shadowing the Special Events Manager, gaining direct insight into the planning and execution of fundraising events. They will be assigned specific projects designed to build practical skills and reinforce learning outcomes. The Special Events Manager will provide ongoing support through project reviews, offering constructive feedback and personalized guidance to help students develop their abilities and confidence in event planning and non-profit operations.

Merchandise Management: Assist with shipping orders for our Lacrosse Out Cancer initiative.
