The healthcare administration internship is ideal for students pursuing a career in the healthcare field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, physical therapy or health administration. The intern will be given the opportunity to learn various job functions in within a medical equipment and supply company. 1. Check health insurance eligibility and benefits by logging into provider portals, calling insurance companies.
2. Process a doctor's prescription for medical equipment and supplies using QS/1 SystemOne software.
3. Process health insurance claims electronically and by paper.
4. Interact with other healthcare providers via phone to request additional information needed to process prescriptions.

Training:

General employer orientation, weekly scheduled one-on-one mentor meetings, job shadowing, workshops/skills training, provision of work samples, overview/contextualization of assigned tasks, training literature reviews and testing.
