Opportunity Summary 

Cal State Fullerton Athletic Training is looking for students who are interested in working in the athletic training clinic. This is a unique health care setting where athletes come to receive preventative and rehabilitative care. As health care providers for these athletes, coverage of sport is also required to provide any emergency care during sport. The job description is as follows:
Athletic training aides will work under the direct supervision of full-time athletic training staff. They will be responsible for keeping the treatment area clean and organized and aiding in the preparation of each patient’s treatment. In addition, aides will complete a variety of clerical tasks, such as scheduling treatment sessions, answering phones, washing linens, etc.

Learning Outcomes  

  1. Keep the facility clean and organized to help the training room function at a high level.
    2. Explain some learning opportunities that they experienced during their volunteering.
    3. Discuss common athletic injuries and treatment interventions used to assist the student athlete in the recovery process.

Training  

  1. Encourage the student to engage in learning opportunities with student-athletes care.
    2. Facilitate learning opportunities in regard to injury management, treatment techniques, and other pertinent skills.
    3. Teach about proper athletic training room management and how to keep facilities running smoothly.

Tasks/Duties  

  1. Help the athletic trainer with tasks such as treatment interventions, documentation, and follow up care.
    2. Keep the facility clean and tidy and help with organizational tasks.
    3. Discuss common athletic injuries and treatment interventions used to assist the student athlete in the recovery process.
