Outreach Specialist

The Outreach Specialist will attend a variety of behavioral healthcare related community events throughout Orange County and online.

The Outreach Specialist will have a clear understanding of the mission and vision of CarePossible and be able to communicate the mission and vision in both community and one on one settings.

The Outreach Specialist's efforts will lead to more military veterans and military families receiving free behavioral healthcare services from CarePossible.

Tasks:

Tasks:
1. Attend various behavioral healthcare and nonprofit meetings, trainings and networking events as a representative of CarePossible.
2. Attend and serve at Lifelines Recovery Meeting to help people affected by addiction issues.
3. Attend the Orange County Community Foundation meetings.
4. Help lead the Orange County Community Foundation Day of Giving focused on mental health.
5. Develop relationships with behavioral healthcare and nonprofit professionals.

Training:

Training will include:
1. General orientation.
2. Weekly mentoring meetings.
3. Attending workshops and trainings throughout Orange County focused on behavioral healthcare and nonprofit leadership.
4. Attend a weekly leadership lesson training.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to:

1. Confidently communicate mission and vision in public and one on one settings.
2. Have developed a network of organizations and professionals in the behavioral healthcare field in Orange County.
3. Understand nonprofit management and leadership.
4. Explain the process for military veterans to receive free behavioral healthcare services from CarePossible and other nonprofits.
5. Lead a nonprofit fundraising campaign.
