Opportunity Summary 

This position will require someone who enjoys working with preschool age children.  The job responsibilities will include assisting in planning and implementing the daily program, setting up interest centers and help to prepare needed materials.

The teacher assistant will be responsible for helping with the general housekeeping tasks; maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the school at all times; support the philosophy of the school.

The applicant will be asked to lead during circle time discussions with the
children, help plan the curriculum and write a weekly lesson plan to include
reading readiness/math concepts and language arts program.

Tasks:

Training:

There will be an orientation before the job starts, mentor will be assigned,
and a breakdown of duties expected.
Student will be mentored by a fully-qualified preschool teacher.
Student will be taught how to create a lesson plan.
Student will assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
Student will assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies as directed by the teacher.
Participating in recommended training programs, conferences, courses and other aspects of professional growth.

Learning Outcomes:

Teach in the classroom when needed.
Learn how to teach children letters and numbers by helping to lead circle time.
Learn how to teach reading/literacy skills by reading site words/children’s books.
Learn how to teach/manage a preschool classroom setting.
Learn how to lead art projects by working directly with children on helping to strengthen their fine motor skills.
Understand different learning processes such as visual, hands-on, etc.
Understand the social emotional development of children at the preschool age.
Learn communication skills with children and parents through observing the teacher.
