Opportunity Summary 

The Human Services Fieldwork Office is a small, but mighty team committed to empowering students and providing enticing and meaningful internship opportunities for students. We believe that by providing diverse internship opportunities, students gain essential skills that ensure students can begin their human services career post-graduation. As an intern with us, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while gaining valuable connections in the field of human services, and skills in social media management and student support.

As a Student Engagement Fieldwork Intern, you will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience by walking students through the steps of obtaining an internship. This multifaceted position will involve creating engaging content for social media, presenting to students, hosting workshops and informational sessions, assisting with data entry tasks, assisting with event planning for the bi-annual Fieldwork Day event, and responding to student inquiries in a timely and professional manner. This role requires a passion for social media, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and staff.

Location: On campus- Fieldwork Office – EC 479

Duration: January 2025 – May 2025 (ONE SEMESTER)

Hours: 8-10 hours / week

Compensation: Unpaid, but will come with treats particularly during midterms/ finals!

Learning Outcomes  

Creating and scheduling social media posts to promote student events and workshops showcasing their proficiency in social media management tools.

Presenting informational sessions or workshops to students on topics related to the internship process and other professional development opportunities, showcasing their public speaking and workshop facilitation skills.

Assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of the bi-annual Internship Fest event, demonstrating their event planning and logistical management abilities.

Training  

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will train students on how to use social media platforms..

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will have student shadow presentations and student meetings until they feel prepared enough to lead.

To help the student achieve the proposed learning outcomes, I will have student sit in on event planning meetings.

Tasks/Duties  

By the end of the internship, the student will have developed advanced skills in social media management, including content creation and engagement strategies, through hands-on experience in promoting fieldwork office events.

The student will gain proficiency in public speaking and workshop facilitation by regularly presenting to students and hosting informational sessions on campus, honing their ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and engage diverse audiences.

The student will develop foundational skills in event planning and coordination by assisting in the organization and execution of an internship fair, gaining experience in logistical planning, promotion, vendor coordination, and attendee engagement. This hands-on involvement will enhance their ability to manage event timelines, troubleshoot logistical challenges, and collaborate effectively to ensure successful and impactful events.
