Pre-Physical Therapy Internship (1-on-1 mentorship)At — Anderson Sport and Wellness
Anderson Sport and Wellness in Newport Beach, CA is seeking students who are interested in gaining experience in the medical setting to join our outpatient orthopedic pre-physical therapy internship. This is an opportunity for you to gain hours required to apply for graduate school, or complete internship requirements for graduation from your college/university. No previous experience is required. Schedule is flexible. In this internship, you will receive daily mentoring and hands-on experience in elite sports-oriented physical therapy skills. The therapy technology and methods used at our clinic are primarily found in the professional sports setting. This unpaid internship involves daily mentoring one-on-one with a specialist physical therapist. You will learn skills taught in coursework taken after physical therapy school as well as skills taught in physical therapy school. There are two tracks for internship opportunities at Anderson Sport and Wellness. The unpaid internship involves valuable one-on-one mentoring and skill development daily in the clinic with a specialist physical therapist.
Tasks:
Executes therapeutic activities such as teaching exercises and applying modalities and techniques under direct supervision of the therapist, training is provided. Cleans, sterilizes, and prepares equipment in accordance with company policy and guidelines. Cleans and maintains therapy/exercise equipment. Keeps current with laundry and maintains an adequate stock of supplies. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required. Performs other duties as assigned. Receive exposure and training in many unique rehabilitative modalities, including but not limited to:
- Cupping/myofascial decompression therapy
- Vibration technology including rapid release technology and purewave technology
- Myofascial release/MELT Method
- Normatec Pulse Technology
- Lumbar/cervical mechanical traction/decompression
- Neuro-Bio-Electric Stimulator (Neubie)
- Frequency Specific Microcurrent
Training:
One-on-one mentoring and skill instruction/development DAILY in the clinic with a specialist physical therapist in a sports-oriented cutting-edge physical therapy clinic where a 5-star physical therapy client experience is prioritized.
Observe evaluation and treatment of patients performed by the physical therapist.
Learn and execute specialized exercises and myofascial release techniques under supervision.
Receive exposure and training in many unique rehabilitative modalities, including but not limited to:
- Cupping/myofascial decompression therapy
- Vibration technology including rapid release technology and purewave technology
- Myofascial release/MELT Method
- Normatec Pulse Technology
- Lumbar/cervical mechanical traction/decompression
- Neuro-Bio-Electric Stimulator (Neubie)

Learning Outcome:

Understand physical therapy electronic medical records and documentation systems and gain experience utilizing them under supervision
