Behavior InterventionistAt — ACES, Autism Comprehensive Educational Services- Irvine
Behavioral Interventionists implement Applied Behavioral Analysis (“ABA”) programs that focus on decreasing maladaptive behaviors and increasing social, communication and adaptive skills with clients affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders and/or other special needs under the direction of a Supervisor.
Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Performing direct intervention services on a 1:1 basis (or in small groups) within a client’s home, school, community or in a clinic settings, which includes:
a. Following Supervisor(s) direction regarding responsibilities, performance and ABA program implementation;
b. Setting-up and manipulating environments for direct intervention sessions to decrease distractions and ensure safety of the client and interventionist;
c. Creatively implementing programs to ensure clients learn in a fun and effective environment; and d. Working independently and problem solving challenging situations.
2. Collecting and graphing data daily and maintaining client data book(s) in a clear, accurate and organized manner.
3. Communicating questions/concerns regarding program implementation (including status, problems, or intent to change any aspect of the behavior/educational program) to Supervisor(s) during scheduled session times via direct communication, communication logs and/or supervision notes.
4. Attending and participating in mandatory meetings, trainings and/or certifications as scheduled.
5. Strictly following any and all ACES policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, the policies described in this Handbook, or any other rule or regulation as may be communicated to employees from time to time.
Please Note: Direct work with clients may include, without limitation, the following physical demands: sitting, kneeling, squatting, running, twisting and turning, reaching above shoulders and/or frequent physical transitions.

Training
There will be an initial 40 hour training for role via modules and virtual learning with a trainer. Additional in the field will be provided for targeting of skills development in the field. Supervisors will review, model and train on specific client program goals and monitor the students progress.
Learning Outcomes
1. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to collect and graph data daily and maintaining client data book(s) in a clear, accurate and organized man.
2. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to effectively communicating questions/concerns regarding program implementation (including status, problems, or intent to change any aspect of the behavior/educational program) to Supervisor.
3. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to creatively implement programs to ensure clients learn in a fun and effective environment.
4. By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to working independently and problem solve challenging situations.
