Marketing/Public Relations Intern - B. ByrdAt — CSUF - Student Life and Leadership
The Marketing/Public Relations Intern will assist in managing the Humanities and Social Science Inter Club Council's public relations, marketing efforts, and social media presence to enhance visibility and engagement. This internship provides hands-on experience in branding, event promotion, and content creation. The intern will collaborate with the executive board, member organizations, and campus partners to support the council's mission and outreach initiatives.
Social Media Management:
- Assist in maintaining and updating council social media accounts (e.g., Instagram, X, TikTok) on a weekly basis.
- Create and schedule engaging content to promote council-sponsored events (e.g., HSS Week) and initiatives.
- Monitor social media trends and engagement metrics to optimize outreach efforts.
Event Promotion and Marketing:
- Support the design and execution of marketing campaigns for council-sponsored events.
- Assist in coordinating event publicity, promotion, and advertising with the Chair/President.
- Contribute to the creation and distribution of promotional materials, including flyers, banners, and digital graphics.
Learning Outcomes
- By the end of the internship, the student will be able to develop and implement social media strategies that align with organizational goals and how to leverage analytics and engagement metrics.
2. By the end of the internship, the student will be able to apply marketing principles to plan and promote events effectively, including branding, advertising, and audience engagement.
3. By the end of the internship, the student will be able to strengthen communication and teamwork skills by working with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty (and Dean of the College), and external partners.
Training
- Provide Paul the opportunity to facilitate pitch meetings with collaborators and campus stakeholders.
2. 1:1s - Schedule regular one-on-one meetings with Paul to provide personalized feedback, discuss challenges, and set actionable goals related to social media analytics, branding, and collaboration skills.
3. Utilize role-playing exercises to create a simulated scenario where a client is unhappy with their current social media campaign.
Tasks/Duties
- Develop a social media content calendar and present a weekly posting schedule.
- Research and implement best practices for engagement on Instagram and TikTok.
- Track and analyze engagement metrics (e.g., likes, shares, comments, impressions) to assess the impact of different content types.
- Create and schedule at least two to three weekly posts that promote council events.
- Develop a marketing plan for HSS Week, outlining target audiences, promotional channels, and key messages.
- Ensure consistent branding across social media, print materials, and email communication.
