Opportunity Summary 

We are seeking an intern to observe and assist in a student classroom, gaining hands-on experience in an educational setting. The intern will support classroom activities, help facilitate student engagement, and provide assistance to the instructor as needed. Responsibilities may include observing teaching strategies, assisting with classroom materials, and offering guidance to students during lessons. This role is ideal for individuals pursuing a career in education who want to develop practical skills in classroom management and instructional support. The intern will receive mentorship and feedback to enhance their understanding of effective teaching practices.

Tasks:

Support student engagement by assisting with lesson activities, answering student questions, and providing individualized support.
Lead short instructional segments (e.g., warm-ups, review activities) under teacher supervision to develop confidence in instructional delivery.
Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, confidentiality, and appropriate communication with students and staff.

Training:

Classroom Procedures & Expectations – Learning about daily routines, classroom management strategies, and school policies to ensure a structured learning environment.

Student Engagement & Support – Understanding how to assist students effectively, including providing one-on-one help, facilitating small group activities, and using positive reinforcement techniques.

Instructional Strategies – Observing and practicing basic teaching techniques such as giving clear directions, checking for understanding, and adapting to different learning styles.

Behavior Management – Gaining skills in conflict resolution, redirection, and reinforcement strategies to help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.

Professionalism & Communication – Developing effective communication with students, teachers, and staff while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in an educational setting.

Learning Outcome:

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of effective classroom management strategies by observing and assisting with student engagement and instructional activities.

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to apply basic instructional techniques by supporting lesson delivery, facilitating small group discussions, and providing assistance to students as needed.

By the end of the academic internship, the student will be able to reflect on their classroom observations and experiences to identify best practices in teaching and learning, enhancing their understanding of student needs and instructional methods.
