Opportunity Summary 

Unpaid Internship Academic Credit Required

Assist account managers in their daily tasks, including writing, research and social media marketing. Shout PR's interns are integral to the work we do, and complete projects side-by-side with account managers. See \\Daily Tasks\\ for more info.

Qualifications:

  • Has completed at least two years in a Communications/Marketing degree program (public relations, journalism, marketing, and other similar courses of study)
  • Strong writing abilities
  • Has a great ability to learn new processes quickly and retain information
  • Is a self-starter who likes to see projects through to fruition
  • Has an interest in the fashion, food/beverage and lifestyle public relations/marketing
  • Has an interest in social media marketing
  • Must be available for the duration of Internship dates/times

Daily Tasks (not limited to):

  • Responsible for research into influencer marketing based on client needs
  • Responsible for researching images/inspo for client social media
  • Responsible for communicating with market/associate market level editors, freelancers, assistants and influencers on appropriate fashion & accessories stories and campaigns
  • Responsible for sample pulls and communication
  • Responsible for weekly client status reports
  • Responsible for distributing look books and trend pitches to long lead, weekly, and regional editors
  • Assist directors and supervisor on developing press outreach plans and calendars to ensure clients are included in all important and relevant stories, including writing press releases, media alerts and general pitches
  • Responsible for managing/interacting with specific client’s social media outreach, including: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.
  • Responsible for researching blogs, magazines, websites, newspapers, etc., and updating contact database
  • Responsible for tracking digital placements

Training:

Interns are provided training on a project-to-project basis, along with an introduction to our company and all our clients. We also provide training for media tracking software we use through online tutorials. Interns are given specific instructions for each project, as well as feedback and guidance upon completion. Since every day is different, every day is a new training.

Learning Outcome:

Have a real-life view of working in a bustling boutique-style agency setting, attending to several clients concurrently. We handle a myriad of clients in the lifestyle category, so each day is different. Interns hone their writing and pitching skills, learn to adopt a client's voice and aesthetic on social media, and is able to interact directly with media. We also teach interns about reporting, and give them the freedom to come up with new marketing and PR ideas.
