Engage in Marketing practices to promote Family Promise of Orange County (FPOC) and our brand. Earn academic credit and do work that has a lasting impact!
As an intern at FPOC, you will have a say in how we run our communication, marketing, and social media! With this internship, you will not only make a difference in the community, but you will also have the opportunity to take your ideas and implement them!
Family Promise of Orange County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping end family homelessness in Orange County. Our programs serve primarily, families with children under 18 years old and rely almost, entirely on our network of volunteers and dedicated interns to get the work done.
Responsibilities
- Pitch ideas for posts for social media accounts
- Create posts for social media accounts
- Post updates about past events, family success stories, upcoming events, and more
- Generate followers for social media handles

Projects to be completed in the Semester include:
1. Prepare Social Media Calendar and increase presence.
2. Use design tools such as Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop to create marketing materials *if possible*
3. Assist with engage with vendors, sponsors and recruit potential volunteers.
4. Participate in planning and launching the annual Fundraising Gala.
5. Participate in pitch sessions with supervisor to generate projects list.
Training:
Intern will receive initial employer orientation, provide resume and emergency contact form. Additionally, interns will review and sign confidentiality agreement and undergo a background check. Intern will have specific semester goals and will be evaluated on the successful completion of those goal. Intern will meet weekly for one hour supervision and mentoring with the Fund Development Manager.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the internship, students will have the tools to complete the following:
1. Create and implement a Social Media Calendar for Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram and FB accounts using social media marketing tools.
2. Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events.
3. Design and implement marketing collateral for our upcoming events.
4. Pitch project ideas and create a marketing plan.
