As a Finance Intern, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with financial data analysis and reporting
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
- Conducting research on financial trends and market conditions
- Assisting in financial documentation preparation
- Collaboration with the finance team on various projects
This internship is designed to provide you with valuable experience and insight into the financial industry.
While it does not guarantee employment at the conclusion of the program, we hope that it will be a mutually beneficial experience.
Tasks:
1-- Perform a comparative financial analysis of two companies within the same industry, focusing on key metrics (P/E ratio, EPS, revenue growth, etc.). - Summarize findings in a short report shared with the advisory team.
2-- Build a simplified valuation model (e.g., DCF or ratio-based) under the guidance of senior analysts. - Present model assumptions, inputs, and outputs during a review session.
3-- Assist in constructing a sample portfolio that balances equities, fixed income, and alternative assets, documenting reasoning for asset mix. - Evaluate and discuss risk-return trade-offs in a written summary.
4-- Draft weekly market updates highlighting key economic indicators, investment opportunities, or portfolio implications. - Deliver a brief presentation on market insights to the advisory team.
5-- Work on a collaborative project within the firm’s operations or advisory groups, ensuring deadlines are met and ethical practices are followed. - Reflect on professional development in a short self-assessment at the end of the internship.
Training:
1-- Provide an orientation on fundamental analysis approaches and relevant financial data sources. - Schedule weekly check-ins to review research findings and discuss best practices. - Assign readings from financial journals and market reports to reinforce understanding of analysis methods.
2-- Conduct a series of Excel/financial modeling workshops (instructor-led or self-paced tutorials). - Offer one-on-one mentorship to guide the intern through building and interpreting basic forecasting and valuation models.
3-- Organize training sessions on portfolio theory, asset allocation strategies, and risk management frameworks. - Introduce the intern to relevant software platforms or tools used by Periscope Advisors for portfolio analytics.
4-- Provide writing samples, style guides, and templates for financial reporting. - Hold regular briefings where the intern presents updates on ongoing projects to small groups, receiving immediate feedback on presentation skills.
5-- Review workplace policies, professional standards, and ethical guidelines during orientation. - Assign the intern to team-based projects and tasks that require collaboration and adherence to project deadlines. - Offer ongoing feedback on professional conduct and performance.
Learning Outcome:
1-Apply fundamental financial analysis techniques to evaluate company performance, market trends, and investment opportunities.
